- Reading Check Quiz: Huck Finn, chapters 13-16
- Review: Reading Check Quiz answers for Huck Finn chapters 13-16
- Discuss: Students will share a few of the quotations from their study guides to lead into a discussion of a few key passages for close reading.
- View and Discuss: PowerPoint presentation on Kemble’s illustrations for the original version of Huck Finn. Students will also read and discuss passages from the correspondences between Twain and his editor concerning the illustrations.
- Analyze: Three examples of illustrations, focusing on portrayals of Jim

- Closing Activity: Students will continue working on their map projects for the last few minutes of class.
- Homework: Read chapters 17, 18, 19, and 20 for homework. Be prepared for a reading check quiz next class. You must also fill out your Huck Finn quotation guide for these chapters. Your Quote Guides for chapters 1 through 20 are due next class!

- View and Discuss: Modern Social Commentary – Dave Chappelle and The Onion TV
- Closing Activity: Students will continue working on their map projects for the last few minutes of class.
